Fall Wedding, Family Estate, Westminster, VT | Emily & Scott {Preview}

I’m very busy working on a number of weddings right now but I wanted to take a moment and share a couple of previews from Emily & Scott’s wedding in Westminster, VT.  You may remember them from their engagement session.  This wedding had a rustic elegance to it that was beautiful and I can’t wait to blog the rest of their wedding!

Manchester, NH Tavern & Brewery Engagement Session | Alli & Bill

Coming up next is Alli & Bill!  These two awesome cats are getting married on a day in October that is of particular fondness to me – it is also my birthday!  I couldn’t ask for a better birthday gift than to photograph their wedding at one of my favorite venues, Castle in the Clouds.

I first met Alli at her brother Jeff’s wedding that photographed earlier this year at the Keene Historical Society.   Alli sang a beautiful interpretation of Journey’s “Faithfully” accompanied only by an acoustic guitar during Sara & Jeff’s ceremony.  I was blown away by how beautiful her voice was and felt compelled to thank her.  It was then that I found out that she was a professional singer, and now she is also a professor at Berkley.

It turns out I’ve known Bill for awhile.  I thought he looked familiar, but because I meet so many people and because I have “Dad-brain” as a result of my super energetic toddler, I just passed off the suspicion.  After talking for a bit, we learned that we used to climb at the same climbing gym in Manchester something like 15 years ago.  Small world!

Every month Alli & Bill host a trivia night at Milly’s Tavern in Manchester where a ton of their friends attend and enjoy some of the great beer Milly’s Tavern has on tap.  It seemed like the perfect place to photograph their engagement session.

Bill very well may be starting a new tradition.  While he did get Alli a beautiful engagement ring, he also surprised her with an engagement scooter!

Monadnock Speedway Engagement Session, NH | Kathleen & Matthew

Next up – Kathleen & Matthew!  This was the engagement session that almost never happened because of all the rain that posed scheduling conflicts.  We were rained out during our first session!  We were rained out three more times before we received our perfect weather evening!  New England weather keeps you guessing.

I’ve known Kathleen & Matthew for a couple of years now.  Kathleen has been a bridesmaid in a couple of weddings I’ve photographed in the past and she and Matthew have danced through out the receptions in each of them.  I love how these two seemed to complement each other and I remember wishing I could photograph just the two of them sometime.  So, you can imagine my excitement when Kathleen contacted me to photograph their wedding at the Grand Summit Resort Hotel at Mount Snow, VT!

I enjoy photographing couples in environments that have some kind of meaning to them.  The energy is somehow different from an easy local park bench or standard in-studio session.  So, when I learned that Matthew raced cars and they posed the question about doing their engagement session at a race track, I was immediately interested.  Truth be told, I don’t know much of anything about racing cars but being on the banked turns of a race track where race cars go crazy fast was a cool experience.

The first two photographs are from our first attempt at the raceway.  Shortly after the second photograph was taken, it began to downpour – a lot!  I’m looking forward to your wedding this weekend at Mount Snow Resort Kathleen & Matthew!
